First EU benchmark study on betting practices
European Gaming and Betting Association, the online gaming trade body, has declared the outcome of an autonomous study conducted by eCOGRA, a standards and player protection body, which showed that sixty-seven percentage of user-facing accountable betting standards put into practice by EGBA members met or went beyond that applied by ten of Europe’s biggest betting cartels.
A non-profit organization, EGBA consists of top European betting and gambling operators like Bet-at-home.com, bwin, Digibet, Carmen Media Group, Expeckt, Interwetten, PartyGaming, and Unibet. The body is based in Brussels.
The eCOGRA study result reveals that forty-three percent of the rules applied by the private operators meet those of the gambling monopolies, twenty-four percent go beyond, only four percentage by the private sector is said to be lower, and the rest could not be used as a point of reference against the monopolies because of lack of necessary information/or accessibility (twenty-one percent) or lack of applicability (eight percent)
EGBA Secretary General Sigrid Ligné said that in this quick-paced online scenario, meticulous checks of the most excellent available exercise is needed to provide an ongoing procedure of modernization and upgrades.
eCOGRA was chosen by the EGBA in May this year to conduct a review that would peg some of Europe’s top betting cartels against its own rules administering user shelter, safety, and public trust that it needs all members to comply with.
EGBA a shining example for all
EGBA was happy with the study outcome, which gives the first evidence-based and proportional judgment of the steps in vogue at both private sector and state-owned cartels. The study has proved that these are examples that everyone should learn, she said. It however throws out the theory that private firms are not giving users the required degree of safety and dependable gambling practices.
